316N19941201 - salinity
The inversion suggest a correction of 0.03 ppm and the mean of the crossovers is
-2.6 ppm.
We suggest that no adjustment is applied, which is not consistent with the 1.4
ppm adjustment applied to GLODAP. That adjustment is lower than the 5 ppm
threshold used in GLODAPv2, and there are inconclusive evidence for such an
adjustment.

316N19941201 - salinity
GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is +0.2 ppm.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests no significant adjustment (-1.8 +/-6.6
ppm).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is 0.0 (+/-3.0) ppm.
All cross overs show no significant differences (<5 ppm) and involve cruises
that are thought to have no significant offset in salinity. This suggests that
no adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses agree.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for salinity.

GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is -1.6 umol/kg.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests no significant adjustment (1.2 +/-1.9
umol/kg).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:

CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses agree.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for TCO2.

316N19941201 - phosphate
The inversion suggest a correction of 1.01 and the mean of the crossovers is
0.985, suggesting that the phosphate is on the low side. On the other hand, the
adjustment applied to GLODAP is 0.99. Based on the low deviations from "no
adjustment" and the difference between GLODAP and this result, we suggest that
no adjustment is applied.
Posted by ttanhua@geomar.de on 2012-07-17 17:52:58 UTC for data product: GLODAPv2, v2.2019, v2.2020, v2.2021
316N19941201 - phosphate
GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is 0.991.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests that an adjustment of 1.03 could be
required (1.027 +/-0.019).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is 0.992 (+/-0.035).
4 cross overs show no significant differences (<2%) and involve cruises that are
thought to have no offset in phosphate, which suggests that no adjustment would
be required. It should be noted however that the other 3 cross overs which are
found at the southern end of the eastern and western legs, as well as the
southern cluster of cross over with cruise 09AR19941213, indicate that an
adjustment of 1.03 could be required, which support the result of the global
inversion.
CONCLUSION:
The result of the global inversion agree with the analysis of cross overs found
south of 62°S suggesting that an adjustment of 1.03 could be required , but
disagree with the analysis of cross overs found in the subtropical region
suggesting no adjustment.
Given that the evidence is insufficient to warrant an adjustment and because the
suggested offset is relatively small, no adjustment is preferred.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for phosphate.

applied to GLODAP (well below the 2% threshold).

GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is 0.998.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests no significant adjustment (1.007
+/-0.012).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is 1.000 (+/-0.016).
5 cross overs show no significant differences (<2%) and all 5 cross overs but 1
(with cruise 74AB20020301) involve cruises that are thought to have no offset in
nitrate.
This suggests that no adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses agree.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for nitrate.
NOTE: It should be noted however that a detailed analysis of all the cross overs
leads to different results depending on the location of the cross over. The
cross overs found north of 45°S along the western leg involving cruises
317519950922 and 74AB20020301 suggest an offset around 1.02 (accounting for high
nitrate for cruise 74AB20020301). The cross overs found south of 60°S along the
western leg involving cruises 320619960503 (cluster 1), 74DI19930206 and INDIGO
3 suggest an offset around 1.00 (accounting for low nitrate for cruise INDIGO3).
Finally the cross overs found south of 60°S along the eastern leg involving
cruises 09AR19941213, 320619960503 (cluster 2) and 49ZS19921203 suggest an
offset around 0.99.

GLODAPv2 Adjustment IND and PAC_SvH_20140611.xlsx): : maintain

316N19941201 - silicate
GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is 1.003.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests no significant adjustment (1.002
+/-0.021).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed, but 2 are discarded due to large uncertainty (with
cruises 09AR19941213 and 49ZS19921203). The average of the 5 considered cross
overs is 0.982 (+/-0.017).
4 cross overs show no significant differences (<2%) and all 4 cross overs but 1
(with cruise 74AB20020301) involve cruises that are thought to have no offset in
silicate. This suggests that no adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses agree.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for silicate.

The inversion suggest a correction of 2.7 umol/kg and the mean of the crossovers
is 0.12.
We suggest that no adjustment is applied, consistent with GLODAP.

316N19941201 - salinity
The inversion suggest a correction of 0.03 ppm and the mean of the crossovers is
-2.6 ppm.
We suggest that no adjustment is applied, which is not consistent with the 1.4
ppm adjustment applied to GLODAP. That adjustment is lower than the 5 ppm
threshold used in GLODAPv2, and there are inconclusive evidence for such an
adjustment.

316N19941201 - oxygen
GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
The average of all cross overs is 0.988.
The global inversion (WDLSQ) suggests no significant adjustment (1.004
+/-0.005).
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is 0.988 (+/-0.019).
5 cross overs show no significant differences (<1%) and involve cruises that are
thought to have no offset in oxygen. This suggests that no adjustment would be
required.
CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses agree.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for oxygen.

316N19941201 - nitrate

4 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is -0.9 (+/-1.7)
umol/kg.
All cross overs show no significant differences (<5 umol/kg) and involve cruises
that are thought to have no offset in alkalinity. This suggests that no
adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
The global and regional analyses agree.
Based on this I suggest no adjustment for alkalinity.
