49ZS19921203 - salinity
GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
Only one cross-over was analyzed showing an offset of +6.0 ppm.
No suggestion from the global inversion.
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
8 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is -4.5 (+/-10.6)
ppm.
6 cross overs show no significant differences (<5 ppm) and involve cruises that
are thought to have no significant offsets in salinity. When the offset
suggested for the other cruises are taken into account, the average of all cross
overs is +0.1 (+/-3.0) ppm. This suggests that no adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
Based on the regional analysis above I suggest no adjustment for salinity.

GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
Only one cross-over was analyzed showing an offset of 0.944.
No suggestion from the global inversion.
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed, but 2 are discarded due to large uncertainty (with
cruises 317519950922 and 320619960503). The average of the 5 cross overs is
0.941 (+/-0.019).
All cross overs show significant differences ranging from 0.91 to 0.96, and 3 of
them involve cruises that are thought to have no offset in phosphate. When the
offsets suggested for the other cruises are taken into account, the average of
the 5 cross overs is 0.953 (+/-0.007). This suggests that an adjustment of 1.05
could be required.
CONCLUSION:
Based on the regional analysis above I suggest an adjustment of 1.05 for
phosphate.

GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
Only one cross-over was analyzed showing an offset of 1.001.
No suggestion from the global inversion.
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is 0.989 (+/-0.028).
All cross overs but 1 show no significant differences (<2%) and involve cruises
that are thought to have no offset in nitrate. When the offsets suggested for
the other cruise is taken into account, the average of all cross overs is 1.000
(+/-0.012). This suggests that no adjustment would be required.
CONCLUSION:
Based on the regional analysis above I suggest no adjustment for nitrate.

49ZS19921203 - silicate
Changed to 0.95. Both dedicated 'South of Tasmania' inversion and IND inversion
give 0.95, and fit to network improves markedly.

49ZS19921203 - phosphate
I recommend scrapping these PO4 data. They are scattery to the point of
appearing random (values spread about 0.5 umolkg around the regression with
NO3).

49ZS19921203 - ph
Original scale: NBS at in situ temperature
Comment from Masao:
The measurements have been done under room temperature.
They measured room temperature and convert the pH value to that at in situ
temperature.

49ZS19921203 - oxygen
GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
Only one cross-over was analyzed showing an offset of 0.999.
No suggestion from the global inversion.
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
8 cross overs were analyzed. The average of all cross overs is 1.028 (+/-0.020).
All cross overs but 1 show significant differences ranging from 1.015 to 1.060
and 5 of them involve cruises that are thought to have no significant offset in
oxygen. When the offsets suggested for the other cruises are taken into account,
the average of all cross overs is 1.020 (+/-0.006). This suggests that an
adjustment of 0.98 could be required.
CONCLUSION:
Based on the regional analysis above I suggest an adjustment of 0.98 for oxygen.

49ZS19921203 - silicate
GLOBAL ANALYSIS (Cruise plot file: RC_SO):
Only one cross-over was analyzed showing an offset of 1.037.
No suggestion from the global inversion.
REGIONAL ANALYSIS:
7 cross overs were analyzed, but 1 is discarded due to large uncertainty (with
cruise 316N19941201). The average of the 6 cross overs is 1.047 (+/-0.045).
4 cross overs show offsets between 1.01 and 1.03 and involve cruises that are
thought to have no offset in silicate. When the offsets suggested for the other
cruises are taken into account, the average of the 6 cross overs is 1.027
(+/-0.012). This suggests that an adjustment of 0.97 could be required.
CONCLUSION:
Based on the regional analysis above I suggest an adjustment of 0.97 for
silicate.

49ZS19921203 - phosphate
CONCLUSION:
Based on the regional analysis above I suggest an adjustment of 1.05 for
phosphate.

49ZS19921203 - nitrate
