against many contemporaneous Polarstern cruises (06AQ19890906). No significant
differences observed.

58A119890214 - salinity
Average of all cross-overs is: 3.2 ppm
Inversion analysis suggests an insignificant adjustment.
Cross-overs with core cruises (06AQ19920521, 316N19831007) seems to confirm that
salinity of 58A119890214 be high.
I suggest a small adjustment of salinity for cruise 58A119890214 of -0.005

Auto-uploaded comment from GLODAPv2 assessment by Steven van Heuven (src:
GLODAPv2_ATL_for_Carsten.xls / 2015-01-08): : maintain +6. These DIC data
regress well against theta and clearly sit 15 below the Weddell Sea trendline
that is dominated by the other cruises here. However, from the regressions it
appears that that the westerly (on-shelf) stations of this cruise are ~20 too
low, while the easterly (deep ocean) are only 4-8 too low. I have much more
confidence in the easterly comparison and will bias my recommendation to those.
This may result in a residual low bias at the westerly stations. Southern
stations (into Filchner through) have no xovers and are thus of unknown
accuracy.

58A119890214 - tco2
The average of cross-overs is: -1
but this is strongly influenced by the anomalous cruise 74JC19950320 which is
much too low.
The inversion suggests an adjustment of: +12 but this may also have been
influenced by the anomalous cruise.
Comparison with reliable cruises 06AQ19960317 and 06AQ19920521 suggests an
adjustment of 6.

58A119890214
tco2
There are only 1 xover. The fitted offset for the inversions is +11.0.
The xover is with the 06AQ19921203 cruise, that has and fitted offset of 3.8 and
a suggested one of 4,
so 58A119890214 cruise should get the +11 offset in aggreement with the only
xover.
But as there is only 1 xover and there are not so many samples for 58A119890214
in the cross,
-888 is our proposal.

All xovers and output of inversions are refered on figure: "Report plot for
adjustments"
Real diff (Green dots) are the differences taken directly from xover routines.
The complete segment of error bar represents the xover standard deviation.
Yellow line stand for the offset calculated for this cruise.
Black stars stand for the offset calculated for the others cruises in the
xovers.
Blue squares stand for the Fitted differences that would be obtained from the
calculated offsets (Yellow line - black stars)
Red dots stand for the Residuals between the 'Real diff'(Green dots) and 'Fitted
diff' (Blue squares)
c suffix in the upper X axis labels stand for Core Cruises
expocode ids in upper X axis stand for NA ids or SO_ids+10000 for avoiding
coincidences

Auto-uploaded comment from GLODAPv2 assessment by Steven van Heuven (src:
GLODAPv2_ATL_for_Carsten.xls / 2015-01-08): : make -10. This is a difficult
assessment because profile are few and thin. Hower, there is a clear indication
(from Theta-Alk regression for all data about Theta==-0.5) of ALK for this
cruise being about 10 higher against 06AQ2010, which is accurate itself.

58A119890214 - alkalinity
Only few cross-overs.
One with 316N19831007 (which gets no adjustment) with large offset: +23
One statistically not usable cross-over with 06AQ19860627 confirms that it is
too high.
In a paper by Anderson et al (JGR 1991) it is reported that the normalized
alkalinity of 58A119890214 in the Weddell basin is identical to that of cruise
90MS19811009 (data in Poisson and Chen (DSR 1987).
The latter alkalinity has become an adjustment of -15
Therefore, I suggest an similar adjustment for alkalinity of 58A119890214 of:
-15

Autogenerated CTD salinity and CTD oxygen update
Automated update! This overwrites adjustment values (and flags) of CTDoxy and
CTDsal with the values from BOTsal and BOToxy for every cruise, unless CTDsal
(or CTDoxy) is not present or bad.
Salinity action ID:3; no CTD salinity data. Setting CTD salinity offset to -999,
QC flag removed.
Oxygen action ID:3; no CTD oxygen data. Setting CTD oxygen offset to -999, QC
flag removed.

58A119890214 - oxygen
Average of all cross-overs: 1.017
Inversion analysis suggests no significant adjustment (1.002).
I suggest NO adjustment of oxygen for cruise 58A119890214

UPDATE
A new inversion analysis has been done (13 Oct. 2008), now with data to which
all suggested adjustments from the first round were applied. This new analysis
suggests a significant adjustment of oxygen by 0.983 - which is in agreement
with the average of all cross-overs.
Based on this I suggest an adjustment of oxygen by 0.99

assessment because profile are few and thin. Hower, there is a clear indication
(from Theta-Alk regression for all data about Theta==-0.5) of ALK for this
cruise being about 10 higher against 06AQ2010, which is accurate itself.

Southern
stations (into Filchner through) have no xovers and are thus of unknown
accuracy.

-15

58A119890214 - tco2
The average of cross-overs is: -1
but this is strongly influenced by the anomalous cruise 74JC19950320 which is
much too low.
The inversion suggests an adjustment of: +12 but this may also have been
influenced by the anomalous cruise.
Comparison with reliable cruises 06AQ19960317 and 06AQ19920521 suggests an
adjustment of 6.

There are only 1 xover. The fitted offset for the inversions is +11.0.
The xover is with the 06AQ19921203 cruise, that has and fitted offset of 3.8 and
a suggested one of 4,
so 58A119890214 cruise should get the +11 offset in aggreement with the only
xover.
But as there is only 1 xover and there are not so many samples for 58A119890214
in the cross,
-888 is our proposal.

Red dots stand for the Residuals between the 'Real diff'(Green dots) and 'Fitted

c suffix in the upper X axis labels stand for Core Cruises
expocode ids in upper X axis stand for NA ids or SO_ids+10000 for avoiding
